In Memory of Sue Day

We are sad to report the passing of Sue Day, who died on September 11.
Sue, with her husband, Peter, founded the Scottish dance class in New Haven which,
under their guidance, grew to become the New Haven Branch of the Royal Scottish
Country Dance Society. In her memory we have set up a new page on the website:
‘Sue Day’s Memorial’.  It is worth reading.

Volunteer Needed

NOTE:  Since this announcement was posted Ingrid Davis has stepped forward to take on the job and will be working with Steve Rice to make the brunch happen. Thanks Ingrid! and thanks Steve!

Ball co-chairs Sheila Toal and Barbara Austen are looking for someone to volunteer to work with Steve Rice to get the brunch organized. He has the supplies in his basement.

The essential duties are:

Inventory supplies and purchase what is needed, coordinate with Steve to get supplies to the brunch location (Polish National Association in Wallingford).

Arrange for someone/some people to purchase milk, cream, juice, a small deli platter, rolls, condiments, lemons, ice, and fruit for the fruit salad .

Keep flatware, plates and napkins fully supplied.

Remove empty plates from the buffet.

Oversee breakdown of tables for dancing.

Oversee clean up.

This is a one time volunteer opportunity! You are not signing on to co-chair the ball at any time (unless of course you want to).

Please contact either Sheila at

or Barbara at

We need a commitment by November, please.

It’s Time to Renew Your RSCDS Membership

Your current RSCDS New Haven Branch membership expires on August 31st, but there is hope! An application form for the coming year is available on the website. It even enjoys it’s own page. Download a copy. Fill it in. Send it, with your check, to Ed Davis. The address is on the form.
If you are a new dancer, join the crowd. It’s the same form, and, for new members, we offer a discount  on a ticket to your first New Haven Ball.
If you never danced before, and got to this website by mistake, that’s OK! Send in your check! Then look up your nearest class and get started! You’re off to a new adventure!
